Mountain Bike Racing

What a great way to end your mountain bike season at The Northwest Challenge Diamond Lake Mountain Bike Race. The Oregon Bicycle Racing Association (OBRA) will be the official sanctioning body for this event. Expect a heck of a ride through Oregon's beautiful Northwest mountainsides. Interested in signing up? Registration is available online. In the mean time, get on your bike and keep training. This is a great opportunity to finish up a great season before cyclocross takes off. Not to mention an awesome place to spend the holiday weekend.

The course is roughly a 10 mile loop for beginners that includes high alpine singletrack, a short climb past silent creek (see image right) and a sprint to the finish through the campgrounds beside Diamond Lake. If you've never raced before come to Diamond Lake because you won't be disappointed.

For the Pro's, Semi-Pro's, Experts's and Sport's you will be racing a 28 mile loop. Roughly 85% of this race will be high alpine single track. Can you say SWEET!? There are a couple of sandy spots but nothing like the midsummer moon dust of Bend. You will have 1500 feet of climbing to do to get to the top. Once there you will see a beautiful view of Diamond Lake 1500 feet below you. Hang on because you are going to descend that 1500 feet in 1.5 miles!!! Once you reach the bottom you will ride along diamond lake for a short ways on a paved bike path. When you reach the campgrounds the Sport's will take off through them towards the finish. Pro's, Semi-Pro's and Experts will dive back into the single track with three miles to go. Finish for everyone is on the shore of Diamond Lake in front of the Diamond Lake Resort. This should be a very fast and extremely fun race!

There will be two aid stations setup. Beginners will pass one twice, all other categories will ride by an aid station three times. If you have any questions please contact the race director by clicking here.

See you on September 1st!
